In this piece, I combined traditional ceramic processes with digital fabrication methods.
I used CNC machining to create a precise model in jelutong, which I then used to produce a slip cast mould. The aim was to explore how contemporary tools can support accuracy and repeatability in making, while still allowing space for craft.
The final outcome was a functional milk jug, with a handle inspired by the familiar grip of plastic milk bottles sold in UK supermarkets, influenced by the everyday object and reinterpreted through ceramic form.
Throughout the process, I engaged in hands-on testing and refinement, which helped me better understand the demands and potential of slip casting. It was a valuable exercise in bridging material tradition with modern manufacturing techniques, resulting in a resolved and usable piece.
