This project explored the development of a mid-century-inspired furniture set, including an armchair, sofa, coffee table, shelving unit, and lamp. I focused on fully resolving the armchair and coffee table, refining both the design language and the making process through prototyping and material testing.

To balance aesthetics with cost-efficiency, I used solid ash for the curved structural elements and ash veneer on MDF for the flat surfaces. The curved detail was made from solid ash, carefully angled, glued, and biscuit jointed to the veneered MDF panels, a process that demanded precision and close attention to alignment. The coffee table includes a suspended shelf supported by wedge tenons, with angled legs secured using the same technique. A custom jig ensured consistency throughout the build.

This project deepened my understanding of proportion, material selection, and craftsmanship. It reinforced the importance of precision and the role of detail in creating well-resolved, enduring furniture.
